There's a reason why Suspension Experts is based in Asheville, North Carolina.

As the major suspension repair shop on the East Coast for Fox, Manitou, Marzocchi, and Rock Shox, as well as Maverick’s only authorized service center east of the Rockies, it’s no accident that Kevin Booth built the SEx biz in Asheville.

Industry Rich

Suspension Experts, Cane Creek, Industry Nine and nationally known dealer, Liberty Bicycles.   These are just a few of the bicycle industry’s best that call the Asheville area home.  There are also small businesses capitalizing on the rich mountain bike culture of the region:  Pisgah Works specializes in bike apparel and Pisgah Brew Crew stages some seriously one of a kind underground events.  Not to mention an active International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) branch, Pisgah Area SORBA, that focuses on trail work, advocacy, and hosting events.

Mountain Bike Culture

The Asheville area is often called the mountain bike "mecca" of the East Coast.  In addition to the region's tried and true events like the Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell and Gone Riding's South East Regional Conference series, new races are on the national scene, like the Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race.

And our riders are just crazy about bikes.  As a business owner, Kevin Booth was asked to judge Michael Mooney’s Guinness Book world record attempt for riding the tallest bike last year.  Kevin stood in the pouring rain to witness the ride, with other judges from the region’s bike scene such as representatives from Industry Nine.  Riders, local bike shops, componentry makers, and suspension experts – this is just a snapshot of the bike culture in western North Carolina.

Access to Trails

Year round riding is the norm in Western North Carolina.  The trails at Bent Creek Experimental Forest are 15 minutes from the urban center of Asheville, so riders don’t spend all their time in a car and money on gas just getting to a trail head.  But within an hour, you can still find epic rides.  Some of the area’s best are North Mills River, Dupont, and Pisgah National Forest.
